I wouldn't be asking this question if I hadn't scattered a puck clutch saturday night.... I forgot to take any pics of it but it was one of those 4 puck clutch disks that I've ran for quite awhile. One of the four "pucks" broke completely off. Didn't know it till I went to push clutch in to stop, or try to stop cause clutch wouldn't dis-engage completely. I knew last time I had motor off that it didn't look like it had a lot left. Since it broke late sat and we were planning on riding sunday I had to pull the broke puck clutch out and replace it with another 4 puck...didn't have any other clutchs besides this one lying around so It was only option. Anyone else had this issue?? |

I will assume the Pucks were glued on. The thiner the pucks get from ware the Hotter they run and beconme brittal and will eventually melt the adhesive and fall off. Same goes fopr rivoted on pucks. For the cost of a clutch always replace it if it's even slighty worn. |

they were rivet-on pucks. As for why it put it back in, that's all I had at the time and one of those "night before the ride" fixes so it was either leave it down and not ride or go ride. live and learn I guess. |

Strange, never had that before, and I've got a good half dozen worn out ones |

From the photo it looks like some corrosion of the disc could have started a stress fracture |

Looks like a little too much oil/grease on the spline too |
