Ok so i got a 6 rib at last and i have bin reading on it. Seems that a lot of people say that you have to move the mounting brackets. But looking at the 3 and 6 rib side by side they don't really look different in the mounting aspect even the starter looks like it will bolt right up. I will post up some pix if needed and thanks for any info. |

they are the same except your starter from ure 3 rib will not work the 6 rib has a longer bellhousing so you will need a starter for 091 , also your stud on the bottum of your engine case will have to be longer so you can bolt it on other than that it will bolt right in the buggy |

You will have to change your rear mount. 6 rib is a little longer than a 3 rib in the main body. You can take the bellhousing off the 3 and put it on the 6 and use your 3 rib starter. |

I recently changed from a 3 rib to a 6 rib and the bell housing is a little longer but my mounts still work fine. If you look at the conversion kits for sale. I do not believe I have ever seen different kits for a 6 rib or a 3 rib. They usually just say bus.. It cannot hurt to give it a try.. Now I need to go double check my tranny to make sure it is not hanging off the mounts.. |

Maybe some rear lower mounts have more slack or more give in them , depending on how they are made. When I switched my old two seater from a 3 to a 6 , I had to re fab the rear mounts. It had a "kit" welded to the end of the frame horns. But when I helped a friend switch his over, the 6 dropped right in. It was home made tabs that were welded up from a rear plate at the end of the horns. |

You have to cut a little (3/8") off the input shaft if yo use the 3 rib bellhousing on the 6 rib! |

You dont have to change the bellhousing, but if you wanna use the same starter you been using you gotta use the 3 rib bell. motoxkfx wrote: also do you all think i should put a super diff in it if i am only running a 1915 It would be a good idea. Get one in a bind and with some good bite, a 1915 will bust a diff. |

well depends on wut starter u have also or bellhousing, if u have an o91 starter n a double 0 2 bellhousing it might not work, keep that in mind, other than mounting it should be fine but an 091 bellhousing n 002 r slightly different, the 091 has ears on top for better mounting strength n 002 has a roundish top, 091 is slightly longer, other than that its not that big of a deal |

I do believe we should make some kind of sticky on this... |

well he has a 3 rib so just use the starter you have and put the 3rib bell on the 6 so you dont have to buy a new starter or do any cutting save some time and work and you may have to shim the mounting plate thats on the end of you horns just use some good washers and get a lil longer bolt to hold that plate to the horns and you will be set |

If you use a 3 rib bell and anything more than a stock PP you may need to upgrade the cross bar that pushes the PP or at least add some weld for the throw out bearing arms. |

I gotta 6rib earlier this year, switched over from a 3rib. I took the bell housing off the 3 threw it on the 6 everything worked perfect, as said previously just take 1/4" - 3/8" off the input shaft. I gota 1915 also and seems like its working quite well. |
